I used my Nexus 4 for a good 7 years, and it still works. Had my current phone for 3 now, and as much as I’d love to get an actual modern flagship, I just cannot justify a thousand dollars for one. Shareholders aren’t going to see the growth every quarter they want to see if you go and do something like that. The Iphone SE came out right as my old 8 was breaking down. It was my first time buying my own phone, and I was ready to make the switch to android since I refused to pay $1K for a new iphone. For $400, I’m pretty happy with it. I have small hands, so I like the size and that is has the home button. Is no one here concerned about not getting security updates and patches for their older phones? That’s the primary reason I upgrade. Currently have an XS and will keep until Apple no longer provides updates.

My pixel 2XL lasted until recently when it got run over by a car. Is it just me, or do other people not make their products last? I still use an iPhone 6s from 2015, and an iPad Pro from 2016 (that was purchased refurbished from Apple). I actually still have my 1st gen iPad Mini from 2012, it still powers on and works offline, but online is so slow I just keep it off). I actually found some pictures from before my mom passed away that I had lost over the years! For the most part they do. My iPhone 7 got traded a few weeks ago only because they offered a bunch of money for a trade in. But I actually don’t care that much if they don’t last 5 years. Phones are an ever evolving technology that we demand more and more of every year. To think that companies won’t push the limit of technology we use all day every day is crazy. So yeah, it’s just the nature of the beast. I used my OnePlus 3 for 5 years before getting my Pixel 6 last December. I plan to use it for 5/6 years. Most phones are built to longevity it’s how the user maintains it. The only thing is that I wish they had software support for 5+ years.
