you already have a job lined up, so you dont need their reference, just say you are quitting with a finish date and leave it at that, if they complain just ghost the Baby Yoda Hug Ornament Merry Christmas 2023 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this rest of the shifts. Hey, I’m sorry but this opportunity just popped up and they want me to start immediately, so yeah. Sorry, but this is an opportunity. I’ve done it a few times. Once, I put in two weeks trying to do “the right thing” and I caught COVID (suspected), so I just apologized and said that this what makes sense so I left. I didnt even like doing that because my boss was legitimately a great guy, but that was also why I didn’t want to infect everybody that was staying on. Giving a two week notice is a general practice, but it isn’t a requirement (unless you signed a contract that made it a requirement, which I doubt with a minimum wage job). If you are changing occupations with this job change, leaving on short notice is not likely to tarnish your reputation. Does your current company usually give two weeks notice to people that it is laying off? If not, do they deserve consideration that they would not give themselves?

It is nice to give some notice, so ASAP tell your boss the Baby Yoda Hug Ornament Merry Christmas 2023 Shirt Apart from…,I will love this date you are leaving. Do not tell him where you are going, nor that you have another job. If he asks why, tell him that you are pursuing other interests. If he gets toxic again, tell him you are leaving immediately. How long have you worked there? Decide if there is any possibility of ever getting a good reference from them in spite of the short notice. If not, there is no bridge to burn. Just let them know you are done Friday. No more information than that. The other thing to think of is if you need the hours you are scheduled to work for before you leave. If not, if they give you a hard time or yell at you again, I’d tell them you’ll be done now. And leave. Shitty minimum wage jobs don’t hold much value on a resume, nor do they make strong references. You owe them nothing and should walk out whenever you feel like it. Eff ‘em.
