More research led them to the Baby Yoda and Mickey Mouse balloon Disney halloween shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this Japanese art of Kintsugi, or ‘golden joinery,’ in which fractured porcelain is repaired with lacquer infused with gold dust. “The philosophy behind it is that if something’s broken, you can mend it, and it becomes more precious, more valuable and stronger,” she says. It was a perfect, hopeful, metaphor for the emotional times we’re living in—and also the visual spur to start dicing up blue and white Liberty prints and piping them with white or gold binding, and otherwise reconfiguring the rose prints, lace, and georgettes and organic cottons they had in stock. In the mix are a lot of easy, familiar, voluminous Preen by Thornton Bregazzi shapes, punctuated with asymmetric frills and ruching. There’s a pink satin quilted jacket, almost like an antique bed jacket, designed “to be cozy and comforting” and some sparky lemon and leaf-green dresses.
