I once heard this phrase that the Awesome philadelphia Eagles logo Santa Hat Christmas 2023 Shirt and I will buy this amount of “pressure” you put on your mind to do a thing is like the tip of a feather touching glass. The intention is very light but it should always be there. It’s steadiness rather than focus or effort. I like that phrase, the tip of a feather touching glass. The “think about whatever you want” part is only in the starting phase, to quiet your mind. Once that is achieved, the present will find you, not the other way around. That is how I think about it at least! This is as stated in the post, a personal opinion, not a fact. A tip for beginners! Once you know how to relax, you’ll discover what meditation is for you, a very personal thing. Many people say that this or that is the only way to meditate, and that is a bit wrong. Mindfulness meditation is about awareness. I am breathing. I am thinking about my dogs. I am thinking about lunch. One can notice those thoughts appearing but if the watcher is present.. those thoughts come and go rather quickly. If the watcher is not present – one continues on a throught-train ( this is normal ).

We continually become identified with these thoughts and we become unaware that you are thinking – the Awesome philadelphia Eagles logo Santa Hat Christmas 2023 Shirt and I will buy this watcher – the one that is aware has vanished. At some point one realizes they are supposed to be meditating and the watcher reappears and awareness is present. At every moment in life..one can simply begin again ( — sam harris) The continued practice of getting lost and then finding the watcher again is the core of meditation. The more ones practices, the more the watcher is present and one can start to glimpse what meditation really is. True. One can mentally say “breathing in” “breathing out” in synch with the breath, but do it mechanically, on autopilot while thinking about whatever else, instead of actually paying attention and experiencing every breath. The brain can multitask, but not very well, and people keep just enough attention on the present moment not to bump into anything (usually), while actually being somewhere else in their mind (thinking about the past, thinking about the future, fantasizing, or philosophizing).
