It’s because of old metrics. Prior to Gen x/millenials, voting showed this to be a constant because the Awesome george Pickens American football wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers Catch T-Shirt Also,I will get this system was still allowing people to get theirs, so to speak. As you got older and built up your wealth you’d trend republican cause suddenly those tax breaks were beneficial to you, nevermind all the other bad shit that was easier to handwave away in a time where media wasn’t social and people didn’t have cameras on them at all time, when a politician could lie through their teeth and get away with it. But as greed continued to rot out the internals of the already morally corrupt gop, they got greedier, and worse. Suddenly it was about making sure noone else got theirs, it was about pulling the ladder with you on the way up, a single job couldn’t support a full family and a house, people couldn’t afford savings, there was no incentive to vote republican when those tax cuts don’t mean anything to you, and the prevalance of freely accessible media exposed the hollow nature of all other culture war issues. Politicians don’t understand/haven’t adapted to that shift they relied on disappearing, and so this impression keeps being peddled. Of course there’s further nuance to this, such as bigotry and racism in this country not being nearly as quashed as we would like to have believed even 10 years ago, or the republican media for their part having latched on to tying that bigotry to politics, but that old addage of getting more republican as you get older is only starting to fade now that politics has become a life or death situation for many.

You’re an exception to the Awesome george Pickens American football wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers Catch T-Shirt Also,I will get this rule. A majority of your generation is very conservative – it’s a byproduct of all the inhalation of all the lead from gasoline exhaust. HEY! Give a little credit to social media too! They’re both awful and prey on the uneducated and the mentally ill. The real problem is that Boomers were able to freeze society in place for 40 years, because they were the majority of voters all that time. Now, the emerging Millenial/GenZ majority finally has the votes to move the country forward. Boomers are terrified because the dam they’ve been building to hold back change for decades is finally going to break. They’re right about one thing, it’s going to be a tsunami. The day Dems have a trifecta without Sinema or Manchin, they will change everything. Look at what happened in Michigan. Thank you for that broadly generalised piece of ageist bigotry. I’m sure you think you are woke but you’re not and you’re guaranteed to be one of the people you hate when you get older because you’re already on the path of intolerance. Yeah. You know who vote every single time? Old conservatives who hate LGBTQ+, gay marriage, women’s choice, interracial marriage, immigrants, and LOVE guns and being fucked over by billionaires. I’m only 43 and always loved going to my grandma’s house as a kid and having Tang! We didn’t have it at home for some reason.
