A. How do you know that’s the Autism Awareness Flag Colors shirt in other words I will buy this case? Since it was a nurse telling you your baby has withdrawal symptoms we don’t actually know if this is even true as that’s not a diagnosis . B. Even if this was the case, Withdrawal symptoms are MUCH better than PPD. Communication might not have been great from the docs but they most definitely know they’re doing (Eg. you stopping taking the meds) especially since you asked a few and they all done the same thing My wife recently went through this exact thing with our now 10 week old boy, she stopped taking her SSRI’s because she didn’t want anything in her system while pregnant but ended up having to see a pregnancy specialised psych, who explained to us that there would be withdrawal symptoms for a few days after birth, but that it was much more healthy for her and the baby for him to have withdrawal symptoms for a few days after birth, than for her to be ratshit for 4 months leading up to his birth. I know it sucks seeing him that way, but just know it’s not painful for your baby, and you’re both better off having taken the Zoloft while pregnant, and the symptoms won’t last longer than a week 🙂 But yes I can understand why you’re upset that you weren’t informed about this happening :

I am a NICU nurse and while babies don’t typically get admitted because their mom was on an SSRI, feel like half of our babies were exposed to them and then withdrawal from them. This should pass in a few more days. It is really challenging and I am sure makes you upset that no one ever gave you a heads up. Many of our doctors just blow it off too. It will get better. If she is really struggling, like jittery and hypertonic and not able to calm down with you holding her, we sometimes give Tylenol and that is helpful to them. It will get better and I truly believe that taking whatever medications you are on to support your mental health is so important, even if it is a hard start for your baby.
