Winz has got huge powers to penalise people for hiding stuff in trusts nowadays. it’s at the point where it is hardly worthwhile for people to use trusts to qualify for the residential care subsidy. Yeah means testing is the way to go. Extracting money from workers to find rich retired people who don’t need welfare, is stupid Most governments are massive ponzi schemes that require population growth or immigration (new investors) to keep paying the returns for those above them while funding other things taxes pay for. Why don’t we just stop paying the pension to the very rich and the still working.This is why sovereign funds are so essential. It’s what Norway does with their fund.
