A large number of women are taking advantage of this “movement” or “trend” you speak of and not wearing their bras. They likely did not want to put one on in the As I Have Grown Older I’ve Learned Impossible Pissing Off shirt and by the same token and first place but felt the pressure from “society” to put it on. But with the shut-down from Covid and the results coming out from the International Bra-Free Study, they are gaining new courage to leave it off. When you don’t wear a bra after wearing one for years, you suddenly find your breasts no longer being so painful. And those with breast cysts are finding that those cysts leave after a few months. Their breasts are lighter weight because the bra is not impounding lymphatic fluids inside the breasts. Swelling goes down as well. Many with upper back pains find that the pulling from the bra straps and the woman’s attempt to compensate for that pull by using back muscles is no longer being done and their upper back pains are leaving. They are surprised to find other benefits, such as their breathing is easier, their digestion is improved, and there are less menstrual problems. All of these things coming from just wearing a bra?

Of course, there is that little thing about breast cancer as well. Breast cancer was almost non-existent in the As I Have Grown Older I’ve Learned Impossible Pissing Off shirt and by the same token and US before about a decade after Ms. Jacobs made the first bra that caught the eyes of the manufacturers, back in 1914 and was first sold in about 1920. Breast cancer existed before, in foreign societies, but only where the women were forced to spend their days with their breasts tightly bound by fabric tape. That held their breasts still and closed the lymphatic vessels in the breasts, the same way a bra will do. Back in 1991–1993 a study was done in five major cities in the US that included 4,700 women and they found that women who never wear bras have about the same risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer as the men have. That risk is twenty-one times less risk than women who wear bras constantly.
