Asshole parents kick their 18 year olds out. Good parents support their children until they can ‘fly on their own’. Even then good parents will still be there if their children need help. As an American who was thrown out of the Arctic Monkeys Glasgow Scotland UK 2023 shirt But I will love this house at 18, it’s because we live in a society that determines your worth by how independent you are. Needing assistance or help means you’re a failure, and at 18 you’re an ‘adult’ and you ‘need to take care of yourself’ and their job is ‘done’. I don’t think I’ve ever actually met someone irl who was kicked out at 18. It’s not the norm in America at all and hasn’t been for at least 20 years. I think as the generations keep coming it gets more and more likely to stay longer and longer. Like I didn’t move out until I was 23 and a lot of my friends are the same if they stayed in town to go to college. But I don’t think it’s really expected to be kicked out at exactly 18 anymore unless it’s just a bad home life and you need to get out.. Maybe in the 50s through the 80s I could see how parents were stricter on getting moving in life and the economy was just different then and more possible for you to do it younger. I’m glad I wasn’t kicked out at 18 and probably would’ve died lol but there’s no way I’d be able to stay longer than I did. I needed my own life and freedom.

Arctic Monkeys Glasgow Scotland UK 2023 shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

I am American, and I’m 52 years old. I’ve never met anyone who was kicked out at 18, and I’ve never met anyone who kicked their kids out at 18. That’s one of those cliches that probably does happen to someone somewhere, but it is not at all common. It’s definitely a European thing to let your children stay with you until you get married or are able to move out. Thank God. My dad paid for my college and helped get me started in life. I’m definitely in the Arctic Monkeys Glasgow Scotland UK 2023 shirt But I will love this “advantaged” category. My life would be completely different without that help. And while I’m not as rich as he was, I will help my own kids as much as I can. I will never withdraw support.
