Or if there’s a bunch of people you don’t like, walk in, say while pointing “Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, you’re cool, fuck you. Good bye, I’m out of here.” A notice period is based on how much you like and respect your boss and the Aquaman Steelers Man 2023 Shirt and I love this company. It doesn’t seem like you have any reason to like or respect this jackass, so you have no reason to provide a notice. If you already have another job lined up with a start date, you don’t need the current job for any kind of reference. Check your employee contract, if they have the right to decrease wage, then don’t tell them just call in sick until they fire you. If not go to your boss tell them that you’ve appreciated your time there m, but you have accepted a new position and your last day is x.

If they’ve actually treated you well, it’s worth it… If it’s been a typical shitty minimum wage job, just call and say “I quit.” That’s pretty much how I would quit. When I graduated college I was in a similar situation. I was adamant about giving 2 weeks to my current employer and it probably cost me a huge opportunity. I ended up ok, but it took me longer to get a high paying job and the Aquaman Steelers Man 2023 Shirt and I love this one I passed up would have really set me up we’ll much earlier on in life (I know the guy who did take the job because we went to school together and we’re using the same recruiter). Full disclosure though. The company I work for now… it’s the one I didn’t want to quit without giving 2 weeks notice. I got jobs in my field of study and then came back to this company 10 years later. I could get higher pay somewhere else, but my position pays well enough and I have 9-5 hours that let me spend time with my family. I just wanted to add this last part because so many posts in this sub are about sticking it to your employer when you leave. I wouldn’t want to burn a bridge like that unless I had been seriously mistreated. You never know how things will work out later in life. I just resigned effective immediately today for a job, I start a new position in 5 days. I always match the respect I was given. If a job valued me as a human being and appreciated the effort I gave I will always give notice and if something comes up and I can’t, transparency is key. However in this case, I’d keep it as short as possible. “hello, this is OP. I am reaching out to serve my formal notice of resignation effective immediately.” If you want the position on your resume or for reference, brown nose and give a brief thanks for the opportunity and time. Long story short, get in and out. You’ve got this friend, and I hope you enjoy whatever the future holds!
