People live beyond their means because if they don’t, they will never know what ice cream tastes like or how it feels to watch a huge screen and escape from soul-sucking existences. It’s the Anita Max Wynn Collage Design Drake shirt and by the same token and person who claims they are broke, and goes and buys a 90k F150 instead of a slightly used vehicle for 20k. It’s the couple that feels they just somehow need a 900k 3000sqft home instead of a 200k 1200 sqft starter home….the people that just need the 600 dollar dyson stick vaccuum because it has a green light and tiktok suggested it. Thanks for this lol. You see it so often people wave away ridiculous shit in the name of “we have to treat ourselves some time!” Anecdotally I know a couple who spend over $750/mo in delivery fees, takeout, tattoos, weed/cigs/alcohol, games/vapes/fidget toys etc. and still go to Facebook begging for assistance. For a few years now they’ve been living in their parents “guest house” which is literally just a tiny converted shed in the back yard. If they have any extra money at all, they will find something to use it on.

Not saying that some people don’t go way beyond reasonable budgets, they do. But for some people, yes, ice cream, avocado toast and Netflix are beyond their normal means. They’re that broke. I’ve been that person in the Anita Max Wynn Collage Design Drake shirt and by the same token and past so I speak from experience. I went into the trades. We have no problem paying our bills and still doing things we enjoy. Our only major debt is our home and the wife’s car Went into the trades as well. My wife raised our kids and my paycheck for one week covered our mortgage and then some. We lived below our means and never went without. So true. That’s why when people ask if we’re in a housing bubble I say yes. People buying houses at 8% and cars 11% are losing a lot of the paycheck to monthly costs of those. I’m not talking about luxury car either. Toyota Camry payments are about $800 dollar a month. All that’s keeping it together for them is their job. They lose that and it’s going to start crumbling down
