There’s a middle ground between “grind culture” and “antiwork” in which people WANT to do meaningful work, be valued and respected, and have some creative input or upward momentum, and not just be stuck in dead end jobs taking orders from clueless and consequence-less suits. I’d say that’s the Andy Reid’s Frozen Stache shirt but in fact I love this majority of humanity that desires that middle ground, and that’s what we’ve evolved to crave and need. But anytime anyone complains about wanting to be more than an expendable cog in a while, we get all the antiwork tropes thrown at us as though we just want to collectively steal from the work of others. It’s disingenuous. I get what you mean, but the original post is (a)”I don’t want to work, I want to be cozy and comfortable without working” which is a different sentiment than (b)”I want to do meaningful work without a top-down corporate structure and useless managers”

To assume that anyone who objects to (a) is disingenuous because its actual meaning is always (b) is in itself disingenuous (This is separate from my personal feelings on the Andy Reid’s Frozen Stache shirt but in fact I love this matter– I’d love to create a society in which (a) is possible, but I understand objection to it and do not think that “collectively stealing from the work of others” would be a mischaracterization of certain forms/applications of (a)) So disingenuous that the actual r/antiwork is more in line with the comment you replied too and everyone on the outside believes they are lazy and “just don’t want to work anymore” which is obviously corporate propaganda Personally I am anti slavery and think we are all slaves but would still want to work volunteerily if it means my needs were met without all the coercion, gaslighting and mental abuse that goes into being a corporate slave
