Why else would you choose to live there otherwise. I think it would suck for most Americans if they had to follow Saudi rules. I don’t think so. The only odd interaction I had was when I went to a local shawarma place and the people there were surprised of my race. Locals could also come into the compound through connections when there were celebrations and were friendly.

I think we built whole ass cities and bases and shit there in the Amir Coffey American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers watercolor T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this 90’s during the Saudi oil industry expansion. They hotel where they stay in would have a man (not hotel staff but licenses tour agency) offering them daytrip to a private beach where bikinis are allowed. She said the beach is basically exclusive to them and no one else around with sand dunes shutting them out of sight. I visited one of the small ‘western values’ beach resorts for some scuba+snorkeling during a brief work visit there. I got yelled at for wearing a sun shirt in the water. The expats I drove with thought it was hilarious – they cheerfully shared the story later with my colleagues about being ordered to strip for wearing too much. I would be curious how many are American expats, American military, or how many are American citizens who are really dual citizens by birth and reside there (because of the oil industry). Our family has multiple American citizens (by birth inheritance) in Asia who have never set foot on US soil. Military teaching them how to use the American military stuff they buy and in some cases they actually maintain it for them because Saudis are extremely lazy. Late to this thread but I grew up on one of these compounds (moved there when I was 7, left when I was 16). AMA!
