My mom is around 55 at this time and everytime I’ve talked to her about my rent or new rent for new apartment she always gasps and is like, ‘that’s so expensive!’ Well yeah mom it’s not 1970 anymore. Rent and EVERYTHING has gone up in 40 years. You’re either lucky af to find a good apartment in a good area for $1000 or you’re paying $1000 for a shit place in a shit area. $1300 for my apartment is actually on the american patriot day of september11 , 9 11 memorial Essential T-Shirt and I will buy this cheaper end for my area. I could never imagine trying to pay that on $15 an hour. It’d be literally impossible. Okay, well, mom, if I try to find a cheaper place, I’m looking at an apartment half the size or a major decrease in my physical safety. I’m literally paying the least expensive price for the type of place (has some cameras and a fob, but the appliances are 15yo this is not a luxury apartment lol). Sorry that I don’t want to live in apartments where other residents complain about heroin needles in the hallways??

I just had to turn down a job I really would’ve loved with potential for growth in an area I’m passionate about because the american patriot day of september11 , 9 11 memorial Essential T-Shirt and I will buy this wages in that industry have NOT caught up with cost of living or the new normal of rental income standards. On the wage they were offering (just under $16, which is sadly not unusual even with experience or licenses in the veterinary/animal care industry – unless you’re the actual vet or the practice manager or high up in shelter admin, you’re making scraps), I wouldn’t have been able to even qualify for the vast majority of one bedroom apartments in the city, much less one anywhere near my workplace. I’m a woman living alone, so I have to consider that as well – I’ve had some scary situations in the past not just from being in a bad area, but from the liberties that slumlords and their property managers will take if they think you don’t have anywhere else to go… It’s not something I want to deal with again.
