I think it was staff that she kicked and punched. Easy solution from teachers nowadays as it seems. Call the police sure to talk to her family but what is the point of handcuffs on a 6 year old? I need context here. What in holy motherfuckin’ Christ’s name is happening here, such that a school lacks the ability/protocols/sensitivity to manage this appropriately (ie without use of the police force)? This fails at EVERY level. The idea of a child being led away by police for any reason, except for their personal safety is fucked up. In our country, use of police is a last resort and only for a child’s safety/safety for others. If the child is suffering tantrums, you get an expert to manage this. This says everything that’s wrong about Florda (perhaps the US generally) – its police, use of police who arent trained in de-escalation and inadequate resourcing in schools.

That should be number one: whoever called the police should be fired, whoever set a policy that the police should be called should be fired. The school board that oversaw the formalization of such a policy should be fired. The education department should be doing the mother of all inquiries and fuckin heads should be rolling like 10 pin bowling balls. What the fuck??? That poor child. There was a better way to handle a freaking 6 year old having an tantrum and hurting the staff by NOT calling the goddamn police. Please tell me all involved got reprimanded???? The police didn’t have to cuff her or do any of that. The school should be ASHAMED. As a mom of a five year old and pregnant with number two, everyone would be talking to my lawyers. This about made me cry. What the fuck. That poor child. What a fucking traumatic core memory. This is hideous. The adults this poor child has to endure…
