IMO Costco is for non-perishable items only. We got a membership just to buy things like trash bags, TP, soaps (laundry, dish, dishwasher, shampoo, toothpaste, hand soap), olive oil, flour, sugar, oatmeal, rice, dry beans, dog food, etc. Pretty much never buy perishable stuff there unless it’s for a party or holiday or something. Also a lot of people don’t have as much grocery storage as they think. Yeah, I live alone so I was able to get my Alex Singleton American football linebacker for the Denver Broncos Dots T-Shirt moreover I love this grocery bill down to about $60 every two weeks for groceries (I also only shop at Aldi). I fucking gave up when eggs became almost 90 cents each during COVID. How we’re supposed to eat tasty, nutritious food when all you can afford are empty calories laden with salt is beyond me.

I eat delicious food every day. Eggs went back down in my area, I think I paid around $1.59 a dozen a week or two ago. I mostly eat roasted veggies with lots of seasoning and occasionally some bacon in there too. Doesn’t break the Alex Singleton American football linebacker for the Denver Broncos Dots T-Shirt moreover I love this bank, tastes great, easy to make, probably healthy. Vegetables up here in Canada are stupidly expensive. Less so now that I’ve moved east but I’ve seen 20$ cauliflower heads in Alberta. Like yeah it went back down. But how far away from another 2008-tier financial fuckup are we? Not very if you ask me. Raw food is still pretty cheap if you buy on sale. 5 pound bag of potatoes for 1.99, green bell peppers for .79 cents, and carrots are always cheap. Apples have been very cheap lately. Buy chicken and frozen salmon on sale. It’s very doable if you use a grocery store app and keep up with all ongoing sales. It sucks and can be a little more work but that’s what I do now. Since the economic collapse of 2008, fewer children are being born. I think people are finally making the mental connection that the economy is no longer stable or reliable. Having a family can be a dangerous bet to lose. It was getting better until covid, really comes down to global events at this point in history when everything is much more connected globally. It’s fucking wild. My partner and I make good living, 2 kids, are frugal and we are barely scraping by. We budget, we don’t eat out, we don’t splurge.
