I didn’t really feel it at all. I had 4 bullet holes in my leg. I was able to call 911 and scream my address over and over again till I passed out. EMT found me at the door of my house. Not me, but I know someone that accidentally shot himself in the leg. He described it as intense burning until the adrenaline kicked in. Most of his pain came from the many months of recovery. Straight into my leg. Some fuckwad was messing around in the woods, and managed to confuse me, who was wearing BRIGHT FUCKING ORANGE EVERYTHING with a deer. You won’t get a lot of real answers but every description I’ve heard is “like being stuck with a hot iron poker.”
