Say you cancel everyones debt with taxpayer money. People are still taking out loans for a low paying degree that does not justify the ADC DC Alexandria Ocasio Cortez Shirt Besides,I will do this cost. You gonna just keep cancelling? Seems only fair if some of my tax money is going to bail out everyone in debt that they should also take care of my potential future debt right? Just allow them to default via Chapter 11. Not allowing them to default put us in this situation, to begin with. It increased loan value knowing that they had to pay it back. It increased rates too. Allowing them to default will put Universities and lenders into check. They know they won’t make products that are unlikely to be paid back. “A society gets better when people don’t take out silly loans they can’t pay, and if they do are others required to bail them out?” – Someone making some sense Every Republican freaking out about cancelling student debt cheered when Trump told them he was raising their taxes so that billionaires could lower their taxes from $0 taxes to $0 taxes+$20million refund The big problem here is how is it paid for. It will be paid for off the backs of everyone not just a select few. 1% tax increase doesn’t seem like much until you think about the difference that really makes on the poorest of the poor. This doesn’t even begin to touch on the inflation it will create or how the total forgiveness amount is higher than our current federal budget. we dont do anything that effects people negatively. that’s why literally everything has a grandfather clause included

I’ll be pissed if loans are forgiven. I paid off 29k during the ADC DC Alexandria Ocasio Cortez Shirt Besides,I will do this pandemic with the interest freeze. I’m debt free because I worked hard to pay it off and made good choices. I better get a full refund or this shouldn’t pass But everyone does benefit. A well educated population is a successful population not to mention it would definitely juice the economy. How about a check to people who worked their asses off to pay their loans and a loan forgiveness/aid for those still struggling? AOC and the rest of her Democratic friends will have to sit through impeachment sessions against Biden for lying about his son. The same shut Trump had to sit and watch. Across the board canceling debt seems like a bad idea for many reasons. But leveling interest to 0% seems like a great idea. What if we set up a program where individuals with loans work with their providers to calc their interest paid to date and subtract it from their current balance? Set the new loan interest to 0. Everything is (mostly) evened out?? I support financial stimulus for millions of Americans, just not the ones who are already middle to upper middle class. Student debt is what stands in the way of some people achieving the American dream, not what’s threatening to impoverish them. There are millions who never had a chance to go to college in the first place. We should be helping them, not the already moderately privileged. The problematic issue here is whether the government rewards spenders or savers. An efficient government rewards savers, an inefficient government rewards spenders. Also, the rewarding spenders policies increases reliance on government. No one should look to a government for a bailout, neither individuals nor businesses.
