The way I’m reading it is as “don’t be a rapist, as it will ruin your life”. I think it’s a the message of NOT HARMING SOMEONE ELSE is a bit more important… I think the imbalance comes from performance. A female can essentially be passed out and can technically still be engaged with. If a male drinks too much, he literally can’t perform due to impotence. I know this is reddit and most people here haven’t engaged with the opposite sex, but it’s honestly not the same. Bullshit. When I was 17 I woke up very drunk to a woman in her 40’s riding me. I never consented and I wasn’t aware of what was happening until I woke up. You don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m starting to think most people on Reddit have never had sex or had a drink. Not talking about a single drink here, but about being drunk. Not buzzed, not legal limit, straight drunk. It’s about whether he can get an erection while passed out, which is absolutely possible. Yeah, I think this poster lacks nuance. It states that any form of intercourse is rape as soon as a woman has alcohol in her system. It’s a poor way to teach consent. It’s kind of a branching paths thing. The intent is to protect people at the extreme end (e.g. an unconscious woman) by making the line unable to be blurred, so to speak. But never considering that the starting point (both people a little tipsy) can also lead to results that are generally considered OK or the other person being unable to consent either. But like, can’t technically both sides still claim that the other person sexually assaulted them? So I don’t think its something that can ruin someone’s life in the way it generally does.
