Alcohol and (consensual) sex have been going together like peanut butter and chocolate since the dawn of civilization. “I was intoxicated and therefore could not consent to drive my car, and should not be held responsible for my actions and decisions”. Why does the responsibility fall on the male whom was also intoxicated? Can someone please explain? I’m legit wondering the logic here. When I was brand new in the military, we had to attend a class that taught about how to stay out of trouble and to avoid situations like this. We asked about this snafu, where both parties are both drunk, and the instructor basically said “by then, it’s about whoever goes to the police first.” Never understood how if they’re both drunk how only the guys a rapist now. If she can’t consent neither can he they’re both drunk. This is weird. No law I’m aware of says you can’t consent to sex if you’re drunk. If this were the case, 80 to 90% of children would have never been conceived and most of us would be in prison.
