What would that have meant? Not rolling over and allowing Mitch McConnell to hold Merrick Garland’s seat hostage and certainly not allowing him to do so again by ignoring the A Day Without Beer Is Like Just Kidding I Have No Idea T-Shirt and I love this request of Justice Ginsburg from her deathbed to not let Trump replace her. Every time I read stuff like this, I can only say: HOW?!? When the GQP has the senate, there is very little Dems could do. Republicans do not work in good faith and haven’t for a very long time. The only possible way to seat Garland was a recess appointment, but Reps would just not allow the session to go into recess. As far as RBG’s seat, there was nothing to be done. Once she died, it was a foregone conclusion. No amount of appeals to tradition or decorum will ever work on the GQP.

Yes and no. It sounds like Roberts would still have voted in favor of the A Day Without Beer Is Like Just Kidding I Have No Idea T-Shirt and I love this MS 15 week law, just not overturning RvW entirely. So it would’ve been death by 1000 cuts instead of 1 cut. But still likely death. If only there was a further left wing group of voters that have wanted this for years! Can’t wait to vote like my life depends on it while Democrats do nothing but offer the “best of the two available” position. You definitely won’t be pushing more people left or right with that attitude, right guys? Or Obama could’ve codified it into law when he had a supermajority, or Biden could tell his party to axe the filibuster and do it right now. Yeah no shit. That selfish idiot was banking on Hillary winning, and planned on retiring during Hillary’s regime to give Hillary the pomp of being able to pick a new justice.
