I grew up without a strong father figure, was mostly raised by my mom and her sister. I still liked sports, violent video games, and yes… girls. But I didn’t really have the A Christmas Story Logo Shirt and I love this traditional male “modeling,” for being a typical dude. A lot of this I still marvel at, basically being a self centered asshole passing as “manly”. Anyway, happily married with kids and I’d say to anyone be yourself and you’ll find your people. A guy I knew in high school we all thought was gay was the baton twirler and wore sparkly skin tight costumes. But as far as I can tell at this point he’s happily married with grown kids and not gay. My wife teases me because I like to watch trash reality TV when I’m exhausted, stressed, and just want to veg-out. Sometimes I don’t want to have to pay attention to a super scary, stressful, complicated TV show. Guess I’m gay. The family went to the zoo last weekend and we were talking with our kids about “what’s your favorite animal?” and I said “otter” because, I dunno, all they do is swim and play? Seems to be a cheerful animal. Apparently “otter” means something in gay culture? I don’t know because I’m not gay. I guess I could google it… anyways, wife teasing me, again.

Honestly, I think it’s others around me that are uncomfortable in their own skin or in the A Christmas Story Logo Shirt and I love this situation. Or – people make the joke once – and it becomes a “thing”. Like, one time at work I parallel parked along the curb and scratched by tire along the curb to locate it and for the rest of the summer the “joke” was about how I can’t park? Weird. TLDR – there’s lots of reasons why I’m “gay”, apparently, but I don’t care. Live your life. Be secure with who you are. It’s others insecurities showing. You’re handsome, leaning towards pretty. Grunge isn’t my thing but maybe to them, you might as well be a hot dude on those thirsty romance books. How you carrie yourself. I mean like posture, non verbals (which are bullshit but not to others,) maybe your voice.
