I’m 54 and I do swim almost every day and walk 10-12 km daily. A lot of my friends and relatives died of a heart attack after 40. So I have a great motivation to exercise, just want to live. as an athlete in HS i just wanted to win for once instead of placing 3rd year after year. I didn’t but a college athlete saw me just turning up every morning bright & early and took me under his wing. He trained me so well that i blew everyone away at State, I skipped outta Nationals cuz my dad didn’t think my times were competitive enough to win and I needed to prep for college. I play in this basketball league every Sunday. It’s a pretty big league and there’s this hot shot who thinks he’s so good I work out everyday for the chance to guard him in the playoffs. I’ll be ready this summer big boy It starts with self loathing, and ends with wow, this feels wonderful. You never regret working out or exercising.

Well since I’m anorexic, working out is a must for me. I can’t let myself become fat otherwise that’s going to cause me a lot of problems. I think working towards a goal is key like competing in an event or playing a sport. I could not exercise just to exercise, I’d feel lost. it’s great because your torso stays still, I set up my laptop and read a book or catch up on emails or watch some videos Most men start out exercising and lifting weights from a dark place. The only motivation you need is what it actually does: more healthy, more physically and mentally attractive, endorphins that release stress/depression, people will respect you more, etc.. But honestly. Most people dont enjoy the gym when they start until they start seeing results, both physically and mentally, and thats when pushing your body becomes addictive I’ve always wanted to. I remember being super young and looking forward to being old enough to lift weights. Also, both parents died young bc they didn’t take care of themselves. There’s also a group of people I’ve met at the gym that I work out with on occasion. Even if I have a bad workout, I still get to socialize and it’s a good refresher after a long day at work
