One time I was selling video games at toys r us as I worked in electronics. I had more than one teenage boy be an absolute pill and ask for a male associate because I obviously couldn’t possibly know anything. I knew enough to warn ones grandma about the 2024 NSA Summer Sizzle Fastpitch Tournament shirt and I will buy this contents of GTA IV so he didn’t get it. Its the little interactions. A few times I was mistaken for a man. Unfortunately that was most obvious when I was being screamed as a child at by a couple of random women who didn’t think I should be in their bathroom. Its when men treat me like a different species or like there is some magic way we talk when in reality they have done nothing to understand our differences in communicating. We are expected to learns mens dialect and communicate with them while the reverse is often not true. She specifically said that she’d rather be perceived as a man even though that wouldn’t be necessarily better for her.

But if I were to choose, I much rather be percieved as a man. I’d be happier. Not because of privilege or something, I’m lucky to live in a egalitarian country where I can do almost anything a man does. It’s something deeper. Anyway, a word of caution: the 2024 NSA Summer Sizzle Fastpitch Tournament shirt and I will buy this experience might not be all that is cracked up to be, as the late Norah Vincent found out. I, a woman, wouldn’t want to be a man. I’ve been though some fucked up shit, stuff men rarely experience, but I have help. They get zero emotional support, especially from their own kind. I just hung out with some female friends I haven’t seen in months, we were immediately able to commiserate over bad stuff, talk about difficult life decisions, and just hug it out. Guys were taught that’s not ok, so they never have that shoulder to cry on. It’s so interesting reading thru this thread and even the book you linked, I haven’t seen it before. Im a trans man myself, Ive been transitioning for years and going from being a woman in society to a man was definitely a shock.
