I’d also be curious where that number comes from. Is it self reported or just a number that someone assumes as an observer? That’s really it, I think. It’s not that they want people to not be gay or trans; they don’t want to have to even be aware of it. Just like how they don’t want to acknowledge that there are systemic issues with non-white people or women. Their world was all ponies and rainbows (hah!) when they felt that they were being waited on like monarchs without question; it was only this pesky equality/equity movement that came up… I think your TLDR has the 18 years of being awesome limited editon vintage 2005 T-Shirt But I will love this explanation in it. It’s that they don’t want the people who are gay to be part of their society and they don’t like that society has (mostly) changed to be accepting of it. That’s exactly what it is. I think most people are bi, and the 18 years of being awesome limited editon vintage 2005 T-Shirt But I will love this insane homophobic people consciously chose to resist the “temptation” to be gay. Not sure what percentage or whatever im not a scientist or expert at all, but like so many of these antigay people end up getting outed for being on grindr and stuff. Im grateful i grew up and educated very liberal, and one time a guy was hitting on me and i let him kiss me. It just felt like being kissed by a dog tbh, zero sexual feeling, but when i pulled away i saw how horny the guy was lol. I said sorry, walked away and that was that. That’s when I realize sexuality is a very innate characteristic. I also realized if these super antigay people were really straight they would have absolutely nothing to be scared of or worry about. I know some people say it’s homophobic to blame homophobia on closeted gay people, but it really is a fucked up self hatred and sexual repression that makes people homophobic.
